Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. As a person with Irish heritage, and surrounded as her by talented parents and family was naturally gifted, it came as a natural. Maureen was welcomed into this cherished refuge in Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th of 1920. Marguerita Lu. FitzSimons made a name for herself with her contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman in Dublin who also controlled a portion of the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer club in Ireland. Maureen was the third of six FitzSimons children. Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen was a fan of rough sports as an infant and was extremely adept in them. The passion for sports was matched by an unnatural talent for performing. It was evident by her receiving nearly every Feis award for drama or theatrical performing her country offered. As she reached the age of 14 she was accepted by the Abbey Theater accepted her and permitted her to pursue her passion for classical theatre and singing opera.
