
Jennifer was always excited about becoming an multi-tasking star. As a child Jennifer was fond of a variety of musical styles, mostly Afro-Caribbean styles like merengue salsa and Bachata. In addition, she loved mainstream music , like hip-hop , and R&B. The music she loved was also fascinated by the movie industry. West Side Story, a musical by Rita Moreno (1961), was the most influential film for her. At 5, Jennifer began taking singing and dancing lessons. Jennifer, besides being an entertainer and a Catholic schoolgirl, completed eight years at Holy Family Catholic Elementary School in The Bronx. After completing the four-year course at the school, she was able to graduate from Preston High School, an all-girls prep school. While at school, Jennifer was an amazing athlete who played in track and field and tennis. Her home in the Castle Hill neighbourhood was her residence for the majority of her time. Jennifer moved out of her parents' home at the age of 18 to go out. At this point, Lopez worked at a law firm and took dancing positions at night.
