Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen was an athlete of natural talent and was a fan of tough athletic games. She combined this interest with an innate talent for doing shows. That was evident when she was awarded each Feis for drama and theater that Ireland had to offer. The Abbey Theater was her first choice. Abbey Theater by age 14 in which she pursued her dreams of performing in classical and opera. Charles Laughton became captivated with the stunning eyes of Maureen after watching a screen-test. Laughton altered the name of Maureen's FitzSimons and changed her name from Maureen FitzSimons, to "Maureen O'Hara" that was a diminutive version of her last name. The name change took place just before Laughton cast her in Jamaica Inn. Maureen was under contract with Laughton to film her next film in America with RKO Pictures (The Hunchback of Notre The Dame, 1939). The contract Maureen signed with Laughton was acquired by RKO following the epic film became a huge success. Maureen was just 19 when she appeared alongside Laughton in two movies.
